The aftereffects of Marktoberdorf are still pretty strong. I practically spent my Monday doing some facebook stuff. Finished writing some stuff about Marktoberdorf just yesterday, and also had enough (normal) sleep. My intensive German course began on Monday. It seemed that people already knew each other because of the welcome party that I missed (I [...]

Friday and Saturday. The last two days. We had some talks as usual. From these two days, I got some more example ideas for CoBox. Let’s see if I can realise it. Xavier Leroy wrapped up his excellent introduction to Coq with an example of a virtual machine that runs a small toy language. He [...]

Thursday, 13 August 2009. That’s the day after the visit to Fellhorn. Everybody was tired and the mood during breakfast was quite subdued. I think if one had a noisemeter up in the dining room and compared the noise during the first few days and the last few days, one would’ve been able to conclude [...]

Oberstdorf. That was the destination after two lectures by Kučera and Myers and a brief discussion in the morning. Lunch were served at the usual time, which wasn’t supposed to be the case on that Wednesday. In the end, people rushed through lunch and the departure to Oberstdorf was delayed by 5 minutes or so. [...]

The jazz concert was amazing. The band that entertained us, Quadro Nuevo, consisted of a harpist (as a guest, since the guitarist had a traffic accident), an accordion player, a wind player and a bass/percussion player. They played 8-9 items from their répertoire, and the blending was simply awesome. This song about Antiokhia was exceptional, [...]

A new week, and 6 more days of lectures. My knees are very sore from yesterday’s hiking and I’m also feeling a bit weak (starting to catch flu apparently). Having a room on the 4th floor doesn’t help as well, but life needs to go on. I feel kinda subdued, nevertheless, and find it hard [...]

Sunday is a free day. It seems everybody manages to start early, although 2 missed the group who went to Munich. A large group of people took the train to Füssen, but only 8 of us went hiking. The others went to see the Neuschwangau Castle. It is a beatiful castle, but unfortunately parts of [...]

The first week have finished, and Mr. “I am sleepy” has departed. Kinda miss him, as he makes the discussion quite lively with all the “I have a question for Mr. Andrei Sabelfeld” he asked. His lectures were quite interesting, albeit on the fast side. His lectures introduce abstract interpretations and give quite strong attacks [...]

Second day have finished. Got to know a few more people, including David Pereira from Porto, who turns out to know quite a lot of people that I know during my study in Lisbon and also in the same yeargroup as Pedro Ribeiro. That jumping around does have some good effects when you attend summer [...]

I’m in Marktoberdorf for a summer school. Got a ride from this guy (really grateful ) and was received by this very nice lady This high school complex is amazing. I think it’s just recently been renovated, since everything looks very new, especially the boarding house. It’s probably about the same size as or slightly [...]
